Lieutenant Colonel Apollonia Anele has been appointed as the acting Director, Department of Army Public Relations.
Anele will take over from Major-General Onyema Nwachukwu on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
Anele is the first female officer to be appointed to the position for the Army.
The new spokesperson is a member of the Direct Regular Course 15 of the Nigerian Defence Academy and a member of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations.
She was before this appointment serving at the Department of Civil-Military Relations at Defence Headquarters.
She was a spokesperson in the office of the Chief of Army Staff.
Anele’s predecessor, Nwachukwu has been redeployed to the Nigerian Army Future Heritage
