The management of Arewa House, Centre for Historical Research and Documentation, Ahmadu Bello University, Kaduna, has denied selling its clinic and Five’s court.
This is contained in a statement issued to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna on Thursday, signed by its Director, Dr Salisu Bala.
Bala said that the centre was compelled to react to a recent publication by an Abuja-based Magazine that mischievously reported the alleged sale.
He said, “We categorically state that these claims are entirely false, sensational and lack factual basis.
“The claims contradict Arewa House’s mandate, established in 1970, to preserve Sir Ahmadu Bello’s legacy and promote scholarship on Northern Nigeria’s history.
“Our governance structure, including an independent board of trustees and governing council ensures transparency and accountability.”
According to the director, arewa house operates under strict budgetary oversight, with funding statutory allocations, partnerships and donations.
Bala added that the organisation was also committed to academic rigour, cultural perseveration and community engagement, making it a model institution.
He said that the house was persevering invaluable artifacts, including Sir Ahmadu Bello’s personal effects and historical manuscripts.
Bala said,” Initiatives like the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Annual Lecture foster dialogue on governance, peace and regional development.
“Our leadership advocates ethical governance and historical accountability, aligning with Sir Ahmadu Bello’s stance on corruption.”
The director also maintained that the former Vice-Chancellor of ABU Zaria, implicated in the false report, was recognised for transformative leadership and integrity, prioritising due process and institutional accountability.
Bala added,” We urge stakeholders to exercise caution in spreading unverified claims, prioritising accuracy over sensationalism to maintain public trust.
“Arewa House remains committed to preserving Northern Nigeria’s heritage while upholding integrity and accountability.
“We appreciate the support of those who value truth and transparency.”
