The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) has ruined the socio-economic activities in the country which has placed Nigeria on life- support.
Chairman of PDP in Bayelsa State Mr Solomon Agwanana, said PDP governors are sustaining the country from collapse.
Agwanana who stated in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital during a mega rally to receive defecting members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) commended PDP governors for their courage and dedication noting that their efforts at stabilising the country is giving hope to Nigerians.
He added that with the new direction of the national leadership of the party PDP IS poised to give solutions to the country’s problems and rescue the people from the misrule of the APC.
The Special Adviser to Governor Diri on Political Matters, Chief Collins Cocodia, while presenting the chieftains of the APC that defected to the PDP to the national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu and PDP governors, disclosed this was the first phase to mop up APC members in the state.
He said the mopping exercise would continue to strengthen the PDP structure in the state ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Among those that defected from APC are Rear Admiral Thomas Jonah Lokoson (rtd), former Nigerian Ambassador to Venezuela, Felix Oboro, former house of representatives member, Mr Graham Ipigansi, former deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr Bright Erewari, a former special adviser on security, Chief Perekeme Kpodoh, and a member of State House of Assembly, Hon. Charles Daniel.
Oboro in his remarks said he was not a decampee but a returnee being a founding member of the PDP in the state.
He said the APC is not a democratic party but autocratic with no vision and direction for the state and the country.
According to him, with the performance of Governor Douye Diri it would be hard for any other party to win an election in the state.
Ayu in his remarks urged members of the party not to discriminate against the decampees but accept them with open arms and give them level playing field to operate.
