Zamfara State has been exempted from participating in the ongoing nationwide ward congresses of the All Progressives Congress (APC), 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reports.
The exemption letter was contained in a letter to the State Caretaker Committee dated 27th July and signed by John Akpanuodedehe, national secretary of the party’s caretaker committee.
However, the part did not give a new date for the congresses.
The Mai Mala Buni led national caretaker committee earlier in the month, dissolved the state executive of the party and put in place the Senator Hassan Mohammed Gusau’s caretaker committee in place.
The development followed the defection of Governor Bello Matawalle to APC from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in June.
According to the letter obtained by 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE, the decision to exempt Zamfara from the congresses was reached at the July 12th meeting of the Buni-led committee.
The letter reads: “I write to convey the resolution of the CECPC reached at it’s meeting of 12th July, 2021 to exempt Zamfara State from participating in the Nationwide Party Congresses scheduled to commence from 31st July, 2021.
“Accordingly, a new date will be fixed for the congresses to be conducted in the state.”
