All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors’ Forum Chairman, Atiku Bagudu, said the timetable for the Congresses and the National Convention were before President Muhammadu Buhari.
Bagudu who is also the Kebbi State Governor, said Buhari has the final say as to when the party’s proposed national convention would hold.
“There is a proposal before Mr. President and once he approves it, the national caretaker committee will announce the date,” he noted.
He said the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker/Extraordinary National Convention Planning Committee of the party, has informed his colleagues and stakeholders of the development.
“We considered the timetable and we have made some inputs particularly to comply with the Electoral Law and the party’s constitution. Remember, we governors are just one organ of the party,” he explained.
The national secretary of the caretaker committee, Sen. John Akpanudoedehe told newsmen on Monday that only the party leaders can determine the date for the convention.
“ The convention can be done in June and congresses can start and end in June, but it all depends on what the leaders of this party agreed upon.
“This committee is honest and we have never lied to Nigerians. We can always fight and resolve at family level.
“I can tell you that we are looking into so many things. And I can tell you that we have to consult extensively before we will do anything,” he noted.
