Hoodlums on Saturday invaded the palace of Alake of Egbaland, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, disrupting ongoing state congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
An APC faction in the state used the event centre in the palace as venue of its congress.
There are two APC factions in the state. One led by Governor Dapo Abiodun, and the other by former governor and a serving Senator, Ibikunle Amosun.
The two factions were trying to hold a parallel congresses.
Amosun group had picked the Ake palace ground, Abeokuta as venue of its congress, while Abiodun’s faction is holding its congress at main bowl of the MKO Abiodun stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.
But before the exercise, hoodlums invaded the palace, leading to hundreds of civilians and security personnel scampering for safety.
The hoodlums, however left the scene after they were being confronted with stones by some party supporters.
Security personnel later returned to the area and shot into the air to resist further attacks.
