A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State, Mr Sunday Frank- Oputu, has been killed by gunmen.
This is coming three days after the ruling party’s ward chairman Iliya Auta, was killed in Kaduna State.
Frank-Oputu was shot through the window of his residence around Bay-Bridge Road in Yenagoa in the early hours of Wednesday.
Police spokesperson spokesperson Asinmi Bustwat said in a statement that the gunmen shot severally at the honourable through the window of his bedroom and shot hi m severally.
Frank-Oputu, a Southern Ijaw Local Government Area indigene, was a former state chairman of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties and a founding member of the APC in the state.
He also belonged to the APC faction in the state loyal to a former Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri.
Frank-Oputu was reportedly involved in political contests and some ongoing intra-party litigations rocking the state chapter of the APC.
The slain politician and some of his associates were suspended over anti-party activities by the faction of the party loyal to the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, in the state.
