Imagine being alerted to look up while typing a message, whether to avoid being hit by a car or hitting your head on the wall.
Digital Wellbeing app has done just that, as a new feature, ‘Heads Up’ is being added.
The Heads Up feature is being tested in an update to the Digital Wellbeing app.
Digital Wellbeing app is a service built into some Android phones to help manage your usage. It can be used to set limits on the amount of time you spend in specific apps, or set up a “Bedtime mode” to make a phone less distracting late at night, for example.
Heads Up seems to be coming to Pixel phones first.
“Heads Up doesn’t replace paying attention,” screenshots from the new tool warn.
The notifications would say things like “be careful”, “look ahead” and “watch your step”, accompanied by a “playfully related emoji”, technology news website 9to5google has previously suggested.
The notifications can be switched on and off in the phone’s settings.
