The police in Anambra State have arrested a woman, Chinelo Udogu, for allegedly flogging her three-year-old child to death.
The state police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, who disclosed the woman’s arrest, said the child’s body had been recovered.
Ikenga said the suspect, dumped the baby’s remains put in a bag in the bush after discovering that the little girl has given up.
Some residents, in collaboration with security agents, apprehended the suspect, who took them to the bush where she dumped the decomposing body of the victim.
Ikenga said the woman confessed thus: “I beat her and she started convulsing. So, I took her to Kings (hospital). Getting there, she died, so I threw her body here.”
The PPRO said the matter has been transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department for further investigations.
Ikenga said, “the lesson for us to learn is that we should be cautious when angry and desist from going physical when correcting our children.”
