It’s the second day of the Anambra governorship election and final results are now being collated at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) head office in Awka, the state capital.
The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chukwuma Soludo, has taken an early lead in the poll according to results of seven local government areas so far announced by the INEC.
Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Professor Florence Obi, is the State Collation and Returning officer for the election.
The election, which was held on Saturday was affected by technical glitches with late arrival of electoral materials and malfunctioning of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, which disrupted accreditation and voting in some areas.
This forced the INEC to extend voting in to Sunday.
There are a total of 18 candidates vying for the seat of governor of the state. But there are four runners in the election.
The result form the seven local government so far released has indicated that Soludo defeated other candidates in Njikoka, Anambra East, Onitsha South, Anaocha, Awka South and Orumba South local government areas.
