The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it will fix the problem occasioned by the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) in the ongoing governorship election in Anambra State.
The device has become a source of frustration for voters in the ongoing election.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Valentine Ozigbo had expressed worry over the poor Internet connectivity experienced by voters in the use of the Bi-modal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machine.
Ozigbo who cast his vote at Social Centre, Unit 010, Amesi, Aguata local government area, told journalists that it took him over 20 minutes to casts his vote, adding that other voters may experience more.
He, therefore, called for an extension of voting period, which he said would end at 2:30pm.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE gathered that the device, which is expected to aid the smooth running of the election by enabling human recognition through biometric verification mechanism, using fingerprint and facial recognition, malfunctioned in some polling units.
However, a presiding officers at polling unit 07 in Amawbia, Awka south local government area said INEC has been reached over the matter, adding a technical officer would be sent to the polling unit to fix the system.
