The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, on Tuesday, arrived in Awka, the Anambra State capital ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
Yakubu shared the Inter Agency Consultative Forum at the INEC headquarters in the state shortly after his arrival in the state.
He said the commission has lined up various activities before the election date of November 6.
According to him, key among the activities is a meeting with all. stakeholders where representatives of various political parties would be made to sign a peace accord to ensure a crisis-free poll.
He said the commission would also meet with heads of security agencies deployed to provide security during the election to assess the situation on ground.
The INEC boss promised that the commission would ensure a free, fair and credible exercise, while urging eligible voters to come out to exercise their fundamental rights during the exercise.
