Amnesty International (AI) on Saturday condemned the attacks on June 12 protesters across the country.
Hundreds of protesters have gathered in major cities, particularly in the South West geo-political zone, demanding good governance as the country celebrates Demicracy Day.
However, the police fired tear gas to disperse the crowd. There were also reports of attack on the protesters by the police and opposing groups.

The Amnesty International in a statement described the reports of attacks as “troubling.”
“Amnesty International has been receiving disturbing reports of attacks on peaceful protesters in Abuja, Lagos and Ibadan. Some protesters have also been arrested while others were injured,” the AI said.
“We again call on the Nigerian authorities to respect human rights and end attacks on peaceful protesters.”
