Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, has been arraigned before a Federal High Court in Kaduna under heavy security, as journalists were denied access to the proceedings.

He spent 48 hours in EFCC detention before the ICPC arrested and detained him.
His family and political associates as well as friends had piled pressure on the ICPC to either release or charge him to court
The commission on Monday said it would arraign el-Rufai for alleged money laundering and conversion of public property, adding that he would be arraigned with one Joel Adoga .
Meanwhile, security was beefed up within and outside the court just as journalists had been prevented from covering the proceeding .
The commission said a separate charge, marked KDH/KAD/ICPC/01/26, was filed against el-Rufai and one Amadu Sule before a Kaduna State High Court.
It said the charges in the state case include abuse of office, fraud, intent to commit fraud, and conferring undue advantage, adding that the arraignment date would be revealed later.
