The Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) Integrity Group has reaffirmed strong support for former APC National Chairman and ex-Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, over his recent caution advising party members to halt premature endorsements of potential governorship aspirants ahead of the 2027 elections.
Addressing journalists in Kano, the group’s Chairman, Hassan Garban Kauye Farawa, said early political endorsements and subtle challenges within the All Progressives Congress (APC) were unnecessary distractions capable of creating avoidable tension and weakening party unity.
Farawa noted that Ganduje’s intervention came at a critical time when the party must consolidate its internal strength rather than engage in activities that could trigger factionalism.
“We wholeheartedly support His Excellency, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, for calling on party members to stop endorsing or challenging potential gubernatorial aspirants at this early stage. His warning is timely, strategic, and essential for maintaining peace and harmony within the party,” Farawa said.
According to him, the ALGON Integrity Group believes that the APC must allow established internal mechanisms to function properly by permitting wide consultations before any decision is made regarding the party’s 2027 governorship ticket.
“When we sit together as stakeholders, consult widely, and analyse the best options, we will always emerge stronger and more united. This inclusive approach has brought success before, and we are confident it will guide us successfully again,” he added.
Farawa urged members to rally behind Ganduje’s leadership, emphasising that discipline, unity, and patience were key ingredients for sustaining the APC’s political dominance in the state.
He reiterated the group’s commitment to supporting efforts that promote internal stability and constructive engagement, stressing that the future strength of the party hinges on avoiding premature political battles.
