The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), has conferred prestigious awards on some living and deceased prominent leaders in the North.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reports that former Vice President Aiku Abubakar, Wazirin Adamawa chaired the historical event which was part of the activities organised to mark ACF’s 25th Anniversary.
The awardees were the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume; former Chief of Army Staff, retired Lt.-Gen. Theophilus Danjuma; foremost business mogul and Chairman, Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, former Governor of Sokoto State and the Sarkin Yamman Sokoto, Sen. Aliyu Wamakko (APC-Sokoto North), among others.
The Silver Jubilee event took place at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua Conference Hall, situated within the Murtala Muhammad Square in Kaduna.
The historic event drew a myriad of eminent personalities and distinguished leaders from across the North and other parts of Nigeria.
The ACF said it conferred the ‘Arewa Distinguished Service Award’ on Wamakko in recognition of his invaluable contributions to the growth of the forum and selfless service to Nigeria as a dogged politician.
Expressing his gratitude, Wamakko underscored the immense significance of the award, stating, “I am deeply honoured to be recognised by the ACF with this historic award.
“It is a testament to the collective efforts and dedication of many towards the betterment of our society.”
The lawmaker hugely appreciated the ACF for its commitment to uplifting the fortunes of the North and Nigeria in general, saying, “it is also acknowledging those who serve humanity selflessly.”
Among those who graced the event were former Vice President Namadi Sambo, Sardaunan Zazzau and Kaduna State Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, who represented Gov. Uba Sani.
Their presence at the event underscored the significance of the ACF and the invaluable role it plays in promoting unity and development in the Northern region of Nigeria.
This landmark event marked a significant milestone in the history of the ACF, celebrating 25 years of tireless advocacy for the interests of the Northern region and promoting the values of good governance and community service.
