The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Thursday buried the seven officers who died on Sunday in ill-fated Beechcraft King Air 350 near Abuja Airport, at the National Military Cemetery, Abuja.
The officers were crews on the aircraft on a reconnaissance mission as part of the rescue efforts of the students and teachers of Government Science College Kagara, Niger state, kidnapped by bandits last week Wednesday.
The deceased were the Captain, Fl Lt. Haruna Gadzama; Fl. Lt. Henry Piyo (Co-Pilot); Flying Officer Micheal Okpara (Airborne Tactical Observation System Specialist); Warrant Officer Bassey Etim (ATOS Specialist); Fl. Sgt. Olasunkanmi Olawunmi (ATOS Specialist); Sgt. Ugochukwu Oluka (ATOS Specialist) and Aircraftman Adewale Johnson (Onboard Technician).
Defence Minister Bashir Magashi, Service Chiefs led by the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Lucky Irabor, family members of the deceased and military men were present at the cemetery for the ceremony.
