No fewer than 18 people have been killed and 15 others sustained injuries when bandits invaded Kutemeshi community in Birnin-Gwari local government area of Kaduna State.
Reports say the bandits invaded the community around 5pm on Saturday, and operated for about three hours without interference by the security agencies.
The Councilor representing Kuyello Ward, Abdulrahman Yusuf who confirmed the incident, said only local vigilantes came to the rescue of the villagers during the attack.
“Those in critical condition have been transferred to Kaduna for treatment. As we speak we are preparing to bury those killed any moment from now,” he said.
Both the Kaduna State Police Command spokesperson, Mohammed Jalige and the state’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, are yet to respond to the development.
