Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday, fixed April 7 for hearing of the suit seeking the removal of Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State.
The suit was initiated by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Justice Ekwo on March 8, sacked the Ebonyi State governor, David Umahi, his deputy, Kelechi Igwe, along with 15 lawmakers in the state over their defection from PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Matawalle, had defected from PDP to APC in June, 2021.
In the suit against his defection, the PDP asked the court to declare the impeached Deputy Governor Mahdi Aliyu Gusau as the duly elected governor of Zamfara State.
PDP also prayed the court to remove members of the National Assembly and the state assembly who defected to APC along with Matawalle.
Following an application for joinder and the submissions of lawyers in the case, Justice Ekwo fixed April 7 for hearing of the suit.
