Vice President Kashim Shettima has left Abuja for Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire,on Wednesday to lead support to the Super Eagles of Nigeria as they take on South Africa in the semi-final of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
A statement by the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, said Shettima left for Abidjan at the instance of President Bola Tinubu.
The match comes up at the Stade de la Paix in Bouake, Côte d’Ivoire, this evening.
The vice president’s presence is expected to deepen and elicit massive support for the Eagles and football-loving Nigerians.
His presence will not only inspire the Super Eagles on the pitch but also serve as a rallying point for millions of Nigerians cheering from their homes.

With this being their 15th semi-final appearance, Nigeria holds the record of 15 semi-finals for most appearances at this stage. They will be aiming to top their success in 2013 when they lifted the trophy in South Africa.
