The Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Bathiya Wesley and 13 other legislators resigned their membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday.
A close aide of Governor Umaru Fintiri told 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE that it was a matter of time, Fintiri will dump the PDP and lead the lawmakers and other supporters to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The aide who is a Senior Special Assistant to the governor said the lawmakers’ resignation was part of the mass movement from the PDP to the APC, but the aide could not say when the decamping will take place.
The speaker announced his resignation on the floor of the House during yesterday’s plenary.
The lawmakers, who alongside the Speaker, denounced their PDP memberships were the Deputy Speaker, Mohammed Buba Jidjiwa (Jada- Mbulo), Kefas Calvin (Toungo), Bulus Geoffrey (Leko – Koma) Haruna Jilantikiri (Madagali), and Kefas Emmanuel, (Song),
Others were Ahmed Jingi Belel (Maiha), Hon. Moses Yerima Zah (Michika), Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno (Demsa), Pwamwakeno Mackondo (Numan), Adun John Alaba(Uba -Gaya), Bulus Kantom (Shelleng) as well as Hon. Musa Mahmud Kallamu (Mayo Belwa), Japhet Hammanjabu (Verre).
The member representing Lamurde state constituency, Bauna Myandiasa was conspicuously absent during the session.
The House spokesperson, Chairman, Mahmud Kallamu told newsmen that those who resigned are consulting with their people to determine the political platform they may join soon.
Kallamu said the decision of Governor Fintiri would determine the next step they would take.
