A businessman and philanthropist, Abdulrahman Bashir Haske, on Tuesday picked the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to formally join the Adamawa State governorship race in 2027.
Haske, alongside four other aspirants, purchased the forms at the Continental Hotel, Abuja.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reports that the development attracted a large crowd of supporters and party faithful, who declared their support for Haske.
Haske’s spokesperson, Abdulgaffar Ahmed, in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, said his principal obtained the forms days after he publicly declared his intention to contest the governorship election at a well-attended political gathering in Yola on Saturday, April 25, 2026.
He said Haske commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for demonstrating exemplary democratic leadership by ensuring a level-playing field for all aspirants within the party.
The statement said, “Haske described the President as a true democrat committed to fairness, inclusivity, and the strengthening of internal democracy in the APC.
“He also praised the party’s leadership and National Working Committee (NWC) for aligning with the President’s vision by conducting a transparent and credible nomination process that encourages broad participation, particularly among young people.
“Haske highlighted the impact of the “Not Too Young to Run” Act, 2018, noting that its practical implementation marked significant progress in Nigeria’s democratic evolution.”
Haske declared that he benefited from the policy, as said he received a ₦20 million reduction—representing a 50 per cent waiver—on his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms, which he described as a tangible outcome of the commitment to youth inclusion.
He denied that he was being imposed as a consensus candidate, applauding the President for safeguarding a competitive and open primary process.
“Today, the President has proven to the world that he is a true democrat by allowing everyone to participate freely and demonstrate their strength,” Haske said.
He said he placed his focus on the Adamawa electorate, and called on Nigerian youths to transition from political spectatorship to active participants and competitors.
He emphasised that meaningful engagement requires more than attendance at rallies.
“My message to young Nigerians, not only in Adamawa but across the country, is to participate actively—and to compete. We are capable, prepared, and ready to lead,” he said.
Haske also acknowledged the roles of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, APC stakeholders, and party officials in Adamawa State, led by the party’s Chairman, Alhaji Hamza Bello, for their efforts toward ensuring a credible and inclusive process.
He disclosed that extensive grassroots and state-wide consultations have been ongoing, with feedback reflecting a strong demand for purposeful leadership, economic expansion, and inclusive governance.
