Mrs. Kate Raymond (PDP-Demsa constituency) has emerged as Deputy Majority leader of the Adamawa State House of Assembly.
The Speaker of the House, Malam Aminu Iya-Abbas (PDP), announced the appointment at plenary in Yola on Monday, saying she was appointed on merit in view of her track record as a lawmaker.
Iya-Abbas urged the new Majority Leader to redouble her efforts and work towards enacting laws that would be beneficial to the people, especially her constituency.
Iya-Abbas also elevated the former deputy majority leader, Mr Japhet Kefas (PDP-Gombi constituency) to become the House Leader after the defection of the former leader, Mr Tukur Yetasure, to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Also Mr Hamidu Lekki (PDP-Yola North) has been appointed the new Chairman House Committee on Finance, Appropriation and Budget, while Mr Shuaibu Babas (PDP-Fufore constituency) was also appointed Chairman House Committe on Health.
The speaker said all the appointments are with immediate effect.
