The federal government has designated four of the country’s airports as special economic zones (SEZs).
The airports are Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, and Port Harcourt International Airport.
Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, who disclosed this in a post via his Twitter handle on Thursday, said the approval was granted by President Muhammadu Buhari.
SEZs are areas in a country which offer economic advantages such as tax incentives and the opportunity to pay lower tariffs to businesses.
“I am very glad to announce that Mr President has approved our four International Airports as Special Economic Zones. These are Lagos, Kano, Abuja & Port Harcourt. Our roadmap is working,” he wrote.
