Motorists travelling on the Abuja-Kaduna highway have been stranded due to a heavy gridlock.
Details are sketchy, but 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reports that the standstill is at Bishini area along the Abuja-Kaduna highway.
Both private and commercial vehicles, including heavy trucks were in the holdup that has reportedly been there for nearly two hours now.
As at the time of this report, officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) were yet to arrive at the scene to ease movement of the vehicles trapped in the hold up.
The set situation may worsen as the day progresses with more vehicles heading in that direction.
The route is a major gateway to about 13 states in the north of Nigeria.
Travelers mwere overheard wondering why it is an annual occurrence on this stretch of the road between Jere and Katari towns.
