The National Association of Nigerian Students, Republic of Niger Chapter (NANS-RN) has disowned one Mr. Abubakar Muhammad Uwaisu, parading as its National President.
A statement by the Secretary General of NANS –RN, Comrade Mustapha Y. Haruna, accused Mr. Uwaisu of persistent misleading activities, adding that he falsely parades himself as the “National President” of the esteemed association.
“We wish to categorically state, for the records and for the awareness of the general public, relevant government agencies, diplomatic missions, and the international community, that Mr. Abubakar Muhammad Uwaisu is not, and has never been, the National President of NANS-RN,” the statement said.
It added that, “His claims are entirely false, baseless, and constitute a deliberate act of impersonation and misrepresentation.
“It is both alarming and unfortunate that an individual who could not meet the basic eligibility requirements for national service, including the inability to successfully pass the prescribed screening and aptitude processes required by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and part of the so called students of International Université Alnahada whom received their wishy-washy academic arrangement in Gusau Zamfara State which the National Universities Commission has already clampdown, now seeks to assume a leadership position that demands integrity, credibility, and proven academic standing.”
The NANS-RN also accused Mr Uwaisu of exhibiting” a troubling level of moral decadence and unethical conduct by making disparaging and demeaning remarks about the character of a highly respected and seasoned diplomat, the Secretary General of the Nigeria–Niger Joint Commission, Musa S. Mamman, who has previously served his country with distinction and dedication at the Sudan Mission.”
It said NANS-RN leadership is built on legitimacy, due process, and the confidence of its members—not self-proclamation or public deception, adding that Uwaisu lacks the moral standing, institutional backing, and legal authority to represent or speak on behalf of Nigerian students in the Republic of Niger.
The statement, therefore, advised the general public and media organisations to disregard any statements, publications, or representations made by Uwaisu in the capacity of “National President” of NANS-RN.
The NANS-RN also cautioned government institutions, including the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), the Federal Ministry of Education, and other relevant bodies, to engage with him under any official pretence.
It said the association has Informed international partners, student bodies, and diplomatic stakeholders that the said individual is acting entirely outside the framework of the recognized leadership structure of NANS-RN.
“The authentic leadership of NANS-RN remains committed to upholding the integrity, unity, and welfare of Nigerian students in the Republic of Niger and will not hesitate to pursue all lawful measures to protect the image and legitimacy of the association.
“We urge all stakeholders to remain vigilant and to verify all official communications through the appropriate and recognised channels of NANS-RN,” the statement concluded.
