A truck loaded with plywood has crushed a masquerade to death in Mushin area of Lagos state.
The tragedy happened along Isolo road around 2:30pm on Wednesday, it was learned.
The masquerade was said to have died on the spot.
Angry traditionalists stormed the scene of the incident and attempted to kill the driver after burning down the truck.
Witnesses said the driver fled to the nearby Area D Command, while the mob invaded the police station trying to lynch him.
The protesting traditionalists blocked the expressway.
The police had to release teargas to disperse the protesters.
However, the spokesperson of Lagos police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the incident had been brought under control.
