More Nigerians would be pushed into poverty if petrol prices are increased, former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar, has said.
The statesman disclosed this on Thursday at the ongoing 19th Daily Trust Dialogue in Abuja.
The National Economic Council (NEC) has recommended the petrol price at N302 per litre recently.
The NEC recommended the increase to take effect in February 2022.
The former military leader is the chairman of the Daily Trust event.
He warned the relevant authorities to refrain from the planned increase to save Nigerians from more difficulties.
