The paramount ruler of Gindiri town in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, Mr Charles Mato Dakat, who was abducted in his Palace on the Christmas Eve, has been released by his captors.
Dakat was released in the early hours of Friday, according to Operation Safe Haven, a military operation maintaining peace in Plateau State and environs.
The abductors of the paramount ruler had on Wednesday demanded N50 million ransom for his release.
However, the military did not disclosed whether the ransom was paid before the monarch was released.
But spokesperson of the operation, Maj. Sabastine Takwa said in a statement that eight suspects have been arrested in connection to the incident.
He said the suspects were presently being interrogated in order to get more information that could lead to arrest of other suspects.
