The driver of Adamawa United Football Club, Kabiru Muhammad, abducted by gunmen along along Benin-Ore Express Way in Benin in Edo State, has been released by his captors.
The driver was conveying players to Lagos for a football match when they were attacked and driver abducted, while the players were dispossessed of their belongings.
The kidnappers had demanded a N50 million ransom which they eventually reduced to N1 million.
The Permanent Secretary, Adamawa State Ministry of Sports, Aliyu Abubakar Jada, confirmed that the driver was released in Benin, Edo state capital, on Wednesday night.
Jada said the driver would undergo medical examination due to the stress his captors subjected him to before being reunited with his family.
