A 24-hour -old boy abandoned had been rescued in Tayi Area of Minna, Niger state capital.
Residents said the infant was discovered a few hours after he was abandoned by an unknown person Saturday evening.
A resident of the area, Aliyu Bala Ibrahim, said those who abandoned the little boy wrapped him in a leather and without clothes on him.
“Ants had started crawling on him before he was found. This is the most tragic scene I’ve ever seen in my life. A capital punishment should be introduced against people who do this.
“The umbilical cord is still attached to the baby. I think he was given birth to few hours ago. They didn’t even bathe him. They just washed the blood off his body and threw him away,” he said.
