The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has begun registration of Police retirees in the North east states.
The registration began on April 12 and will end April 15, at the Damaturu, Potiskum and Gashua Police Area Commands.
A retired Police officer, Ibrahim Musa, who came to register from Nguru, described the scheme as ‘unique,’ as it had afforded him and his family to assess health facilities easily.
“My wife delivered in the hospital about two times under NHIS.And now I also come to register to enjoy the programme again,” he said.
Another beneficiary of the scheme, Madam Munatu Danjuma, a widow, said she believed that through the scheme she will be able to spend less to assess health facilities.
Earlier, the NHIS State Coordinator Alhaji Dabo Ibrahim paid a courtesy visit to the State Commissioner of Police in Damaturu in order to ensure effective preparation of the exercise.
