Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has been told to use the state’s security votes to fight insecurity.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) spokesperson in the State, Bemgba Iortyom, made the call in a statement in Makurdi on Sunday.
The party said it became necessary to urge the state government to invest in securing the lives of citizens following repeated attacks in rural communities by armed invaders in recent times.
The party also mourned those killed and wounded as well as destruction of property in recent attacks by gunmen in some parts of the state.
It noted the need for state government to abide by the resolution of the Nigerian Senate, urging him to use his security votes to tackle the state’s insecurity.
Earlier, Governor Alia had accused Senator Emmanuel Udende representing Benue North East of misleading the Red Chamber into passing a resolution on attacks in Benue, especially in Ukum.
