Former Kaduna State Governor Muktar Ramalan Yero on Monday officially joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Yero, who served as the state governor under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for about three years, made the move about five months after defecting from the PDP.
Addressing newsmen shortly after meeting with the state governor, Uba Sani, Yero stated that since leaving his former party, other political parties, including the APC, had contacted him to join them. After months of consultations, they agreed to join the APC.
“We have met and discussed since the very day we left our former party. Therefore, from today 12 February 2024, myself and representatives of other political associates have decided to join APC. After our decision, we met with the state governor and had a discussion with him. We told him that we accepted to join the party based on the invitation we received,” he said.
He affirmed his membership in the APC and expressed readiness to participate in the party’s political activities in the state.
Yero also urged his supporters to join him in the ruling party to contribute their quota towards moving the state and country forward.
