The Supreme Court has upheld the election of Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State.
The apex court, on Thursday, in a unanimous decision by a five-member panel of justices, dismissed three separate appeals lodged against Eno’s emergence as the winner of the gubernatorial poll held in the state on March 18, 2023.
The appeals were filed by the candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Akanimo Udofia; Young Progressives Party, YPP, Bassey Akpan; and the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, John Udoedehe.
The Court of Appeal in Lagos had on November 24, 2023, also affirmed Governor Eno, who contested on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as the valid winner of the gubernatorial contest in Akwa Ibom State.
