Abia State Governor , Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, on Monday imposed a curfew in Aba and Umuahia metropolis following the violence in Imo state.
Gunmen had on Monday morning set ablaze a section part of Imo state Police Command and freed many inmate of the Nigeria Correctional Service in the state.
The governor said the curfew will be in effect between 10pm and 6am daily from Monday, 5th April, 2021 till further notice.
He said the decision was sequel to security reports and the need to continue to protect innocent citizens and residents of the state.
Okezie said he had directed security agencies to ensure strict enforcement and compliance with the directive.
He said only those on essential services with proper identification are exempted from the curfew.
