The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has reaccredited healthcare facilities in Yobe state to ensure standard and compliance.
A team of NHIS professionals from Abuja has visited the Healthcare Facilities (HCFs) in the state for the reaccreditation.
The reaccreditation was conducted to ensure that the NHIS already accredited Healthcare Facilities are maintaining standard and providing quality services to the enrollees.
The reaccreditation team was received in Damaturu by the Yobe State Coordinator, Alhaji Dabo I. Abdullahi.
The team visited both public and privately-owned health facilities during the reaccreditation, a statement by Dr Salisu Hassan of the media unit, said.
Some of the Health Care Providers visited for the reaccreditation in the state include Sani Abacha Specialist Hospital, Yobe State Teaching Hospital, Ajiko Medical Center Damaturu, Police Clinic, Federal Polytechnic Clinic, General Hospital Damagum, General Hospital Gashua, City Clinic Damaturu.
The leader of the team said the reaccreditation was timely when new programmes were introduced to ensure the achievement of universal Health Coverage in the country.
He said Group Individual Family Social Health Insurance Programme (GIFSHIP) was newly introduced to cover people that have not already been covered by the other NHIS programmes.
This category covers artisans, self employed, retirees and their associations, adopted children, small scale enterprises are all eligible to the GIFSHIP programme.
