Protesters have blocked the Kaduna Western Express bypass on Wednesday over police alleged shooting of tricycle operator, resulting in injuries to two passengers.
This incident prompted a protest by tricycle operators in the area, causing a significant disruption as they closed the busy expressway for several hours.
Around 10:00 am, a male and female passenger, both sustaining gunshot wounds, were swiftly transported to the hospital for treatment.
Eyewitnesses reported that the policemen chased the tricycle operator from Unguwar Mu’azu, a community into Nasarawa Community in an attempt to apprehend him.
Alhassan, a local vigilante at the scene, confirmed the incident, noting that the injured passengers were urgently taken to the hospital for treatment.
ASP Mansur Hassan, the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, acknowledged the incident, confirming the arrest of the involved policeman.
He added that the road was subsequently reopened for users, and although the injured female passenger had been discharged, the others remained hospitalized.
