Scores of terrorists who have been milling on the popular Mandara Mountain have been killed by air strikes by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).
The air component of Operation Hadin Kai, Nigerian Air Force, according to NAF spokesperson Edward Gabkwet, killed the gunmen at the isolated location consisting of 3 zinced structures amid several trees where they were holding a meeting in preparation to carry a major attack on innocent citizens.
Gabkwet said more than 100 heavily armed terrorists were sighted throwing banters and moving randomly around the structures, which also had four troop carriers.
Giving more details, Gabkwet said the aftermath of the airstrikes revealed that two of the three structures, as well as the entire troop carriers, were destroyed in the operation.
He gave the names of the killed warlords as Abu Asad, a key figure killed in the Ali Ngulde group under Boko Haram, adding that other terrorists like Ibrahim Nakeeb, Mujaheed Dimtu, Mustafa Munzir, and several fighters were among the scores of terrorists eliminated.
The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, praised his air troops and urged them to continue the synergy with the land components.
Abubakar also urged the component and his men to maintain the momentum in keeping the terrorists on their toes.
