Gunmen on Tuesday killed a Catholic priest, identified as Rev. Fr Fabian Ngugban of Aye Twar parish, when they invaded Sai community in Katsina-Ala local government area of Benue state.
A resident said the incident occurred at about 10 am Tuesday morning.
He said the gunmen were shooting sporadically when they invaded before gunning down the priest.
The resident said that the attack has triggered tension in the area as many people fled for dear lives.
Spokesperson of Benue State Police Command, Anene Catherine, said she was yet to receive an official report on the incident.
