Former Niger state governor Dr. Babangida Aliyu has been suspended by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Chanchaga local government area of the state.
Aliyu was suspended during an emergency meeting on Monday attended by eight of the 11 ward chairmen in the local government over allegations of anti-party activities.
The wards chairmen accused the former governor of working against the party and supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2015 election.
Aliyu, however, dismissed the suspension in a statement by one of his media aides, Bala Bitrus, who said the resolution by the chairmen was laughable as the state PDP does not have an executive in place to approve such suspension.
Bitrus said the meeting held was illegal and holds no water, adding that Aliyu will address the issue when he receives the communication about his suspension.
