Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto state has donated N13.6 million to the families of the vigilantes and other residents of Goronyo local government area killed by bandits at the weekend.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reported that four vigilantes and several bandits were killed in a clash between the two groups on Sunday.
The clash followed the killing of five persons in Giyawa, two in Nasarawa and another four in two other communities.
Briefing the governor on the development, the Sole Administrator of the area, Kabiru Shehu said their villages were living at the mercy of bandits which he said we’re just few miters away from Giyawa district.
“They are living just 30 minutes away from this place (Giyawa) on foot. But our security operatives cannot go there due to bad road.
While seeking Allah’s intervention in the matter, the Governor donated N500,000 cash and five bags of grains to each of the bereaved families.
He also donated the sum of N200,000 and grains to six people injured during the attacks and each of the 25 people freed recently by the bandits in the communities.
