All the NHIA state coordinators in the Northeast zone of the National Health Insurance Authority have been tasked to work hard towards achieving universal health coverage.
The Director North East Zone Pharm. Muhammed Ghali Musa made the call during the NHIA Zonal Peer Review meeting held in Yola, Adamawa State.
He said with the signing of the NHIA Act in May 2022, the Authority can now regulate, promote and integrate health insurance in the country.
He also urged the state coordinators to strengthen collaboration and synergy with their respective States Health Insurance Agencies (SSHIA) to expedite the coverage of the various segments of the population in the zone.
He said the Group Individual and Family Social Health Insurance Programme (GIFSHIP) is one way to ensure no one is leaving behind.
He explained that the programme was launched by the NHIA to ensure that those not covered by the other NHIA programmes can access healthcare by registering with this programme.
