Gunmen have killed three persons and injured three others at Soro community in Binji local government area of Sokoto state just as they alsi kidnapped scores.
The attackers struck around 1am on Monday, according to eyewitness account, who said the bandits came with cows, believing to be rustled from other places.
“They came in large number and ransacked some houses.
“They shot six persons and three of them died on the spot while the remaining three are currently receiving treatment in a hospital,” he said
He said the bandits abducted several residents of the community, including women and children.
“There is one Alhaji who they abducted along with his wives, mother and children. They also burnt his place,” he said
Another source said that, immediately after the attack, vigilante group from the community paid a reprisal attack on some Fulanis communities around the area.
“They killed about five Fulanis and set their village ablaze,” he said
The state police spokesperson, ASP Ahmad Rufa’i confirmed the development, adding a joint military and police team tried to repel the attack.
“But the bandits out of frustration set some houses on fire as a result of which three of the residents lost their lives while few others sustained various degrees of injuries.
“There was reprisal attacks but our men were able to calm the situation after the Police Commissioner, Ali Kaigama met with leaders of the two communities,” he said
