The latest rankings of men’s football given by the Federation International Football Association (FIFA) has placed Nigeria 40th with 1488.86 points, third in Africa behind Algeria with 1509.5 and Egypt with 1508.9 points.
Nigeria went five positions down this year as it was ranked 35th behind Tunisia and Cameroon who were ranked 30th and 33 respectively.

In the women’s category, the Super Falcons did better than the Super Eagles in the latest rankings as seen on the site of the world football governing body. The Super Falcons placed 32 in the overall world ranking and first in Africa this year from its 45th position last year.
South Africa placed a distant 45 in the whole world to follow Nigeria in second position.
Sweden, Spain and the United States are the top three world female footballing nations according to the latest rankings by FIFA.
