Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus is back in action after overcoming a persistent knee injury. The 26-year-old Brazilian, who joined the Gunners from Manchester City last summer, scored for the first time since December in Sunday’s dramatic 3-1 Premier League comeback victory against Manchester United.
Jesus was sidelined in December with an injury he sustained during Brazil’s World Cup group match against Cameroon. He returned to action in mid-March, but the knee problem flared up again and he had to undergo surgery last month.
Jesus came off the bench to score Arsenal’s second goal against United on Sunday, and he was delighted to be back playing.
“It was a very good feeling to score again,” he said. “I’ve been working hard to get back to full fitness, and it’s great to be able to help the team win.”
Jesus is now looking to regain his rhythm and start scoring goals on a regular basis. He is a key player for Arsenal and his return to form will be a major boost for the club’s hopes of finishing in the top four this season.
