The Nigerian Army says it will begin constant patrol in the general area where the convoy of Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom was attacked.
Force Commander of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), Major General Adeyemi Yekini, disclosed this on Tuesday while conducting journalists around the scene of the attack.
Gunmen on Saturday attacked the governor’s convoy at Tyomu, a rural community along Makurdi- Gboko road, but the governor escaped unhurt.
Yekini said the deployment of more troops alongside other security personnel to the place will forestall further attacks.
