Kano State Government will revisit the multi-million Naira Kano economic city project with a view of ensuring successful completion of the project.
The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Kano state governor on business development Alhaji Jamilu Umar Bataiya revealed this on Friday.
The aide disclosed this when he led a familiarization visit team from his office to the site of the project at Dangwauro in Kumbotso local government area of the state. According to him, the state’s current administration is so committed to developing a strong and reliable business atmosphere that will ensure the revival of the ancient centre of commerce.
He explained that the economic city has been one of the state’s concerned areas that would be giving attention towards its successful takeoff.
Earlier in his addresses while receiving the team, Chairman business development of the project’s developers Mr Mahmoud , stated that the project handled by Brains and Hammers is at the verge of completing the first phase of the project that will accomodate two giant markets in the state.
He explained that despite several odds, the developers were able to put the first phase at a near completion stage that included about 1000 pharmaceutical shops and about 3000 shops that were specifically dedicated to information technology (IT).
The project, being constructed under a public private partnership agreement between Kano State government, Brains and Hammers Limited and a financial institution, is projected as a trans-border market hub in the region which started during Malam Ibrahim Shekarau led administrations and is yet to be completed.
