Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara on Monday, expressed sadness over bandits’ attack on Bungudu town, headquarters of Bungudu Local Government Area of the state, describing it as barbaric.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Sulaiman Idris in Gusau on Monday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the bandits on Sunday, attacked Bungudu town, killed one person and kidnapped six others.
The governor who was in Bungudu Emir’s palace to commiserate with the emirate and the people of the area, reassured them of his administration’s commitment and readiness to bring the menace of banditry to an end.
“I am here to sympathise with the Emirate and the entire people of Bungudu Local Government over the incident.
“Insha Allah, through the measures taken by our administration in collaboration with security agencies, banditry will soon be history in the entire state.”
He urged the people of the state to continue to pray and compliment the government’s efforts in tackling the security challenges facing the state.
“Security is everybody’s business, therefore it requires support and cooperation from all stakeholders,” he noted.
Lawal further commiserated with families of the victims and prayed for the safe return of those kidnapped.
Responding, the emir of Bungudu, Alhaji Hassan Attahiru, thanked the governor for the visit.
Attahiru described the governor’s visit as a demonstration of his great concern and commitment to the plight of the people of the area.(NAN)
