Am army captain has been gunned down by a female lance corporal at a checkpoint in Yola, Adamawa State capital on Sunday.
The female soldier was enforcing the curfew imposed by Adamawa government after hoodlums broke into government warehouse and looted several items, including palliatives meant to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy.
The female soldier identified as Lance Corporal Nkiru gunned down the captain who tried to intervene in her arguments with civilians at Fire Service Round About in the state capital.
The woman had insisted that motorists retuning home during the curfew hours must turn back even though sone of them had identified themselves as workers on essential duty but she stood her ground.
The captain was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Yola, where he was confirmed dead.
The female soldier was arrested at the scene and taken away by soldiers.
Witnesses said the suspect was known for harassing civilians, cocking her rifle at the slightest provocation.
There was no immediate comments from the headquarters of 23 Armoured Brigade Yola.
